How is Reward Diet different from what Jared is doing?
Jared Fogle is the young gentleman who managed to go from 425 to 190 lbs in a year eating low-fat Subway® sandwiches, and is now a spokesperson for Subway®.
While actively dieting, he would have a six-inch turkey sandwich for lunch – no mayo and no cheese. For dinner he would eat a footlong veggie sub - again no mayonnaise or cheese.
I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that you don’t need Subway® if you want to starve yourself skinny. A guy his size would have lost weight fast eating a lot more than that. I don’t recommend this approach.
Instead, I would suggest that everyone find their “sweet spot.” Your sweet spot is daily calorie intake that is just enough for you to start to lose weight. When I first started to work on a way to lose weight, I had any two footlong Subway® sandwiches a day with all the fixings. I now estimate that I was taking in between 3,000-3,500 calories a day. To my other surprise, I started losing weight! I never expected that, especially that diet gurus are advocating a 2,000-2,500 diet. In addition my diet didn’t lack in fat either. Subway’s Meatball Marinara and Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwiches are loaded with fat, not to mention that at that point I also had two bags of chips a day.
So, I would recommend that you focus on calories exclusively and try to find the “magic” number that will enable you to lose weight without going into extremes right off the bet. It will vary from person to person. If you are large person, you might find that over 4,000 calories a day will set you on your path to a healthier life style. If you are a smaller person with a weight problem, your particular level of intake will be smaller too.
Just remember: when it comes to dieting, small baby steps are more likely to produce long-term results than an all out crash diet.
